Saw this and thought it taught the lesson very quickly:
Using the comma before "and" in a list is a personal preference. Some people say you should; some say you shouldn't and that using it is old fashioned. Whatever you do, strive to be consistent throughout the entire document. Pick one and go with it.
Me? I use it every time. I just like how it looks, and it just makes sense.
I like how it looks too and I like how it breaks up the last two items in the list instead of making it sound like they make up one item.
ReplyDeleteI never use it before the word and (which I think came from my journalism teacher's preference to not use it) . . . but it is odd that I don't, because I once had a college professor tell me I had a love affair with the comma, such is my overuse. :-)
